Maternal and Child Health Program Evaluated in Camagüey


Camagüey, January 13 - The Municipal Administration Council conducted a thorough analysis of the Maternal and Child Health Program (PAMI, for its acronym in Spanish) during its first meeting of the current year.

The meeting clarified that the territory concluded the past year with an infant mortality rate of 9.07, higher than the rate achieved in 2024, which was 8.2 children deceased under one year of age.

Dr. Michel Alfonso Figueroa, General Director of Public Health in the provincial capital of Camagüey, reported that in the last 12 months there were 1,782 births, with 16 deaths.

He specified that teenage pregnancy accounts for 19% of registered cases, with higher incidence at the Joaquín de Agüero, Carlos J. Finlay, Tula Aguilera, Previsora, and Julio Antonio Mella polyclinics. (Text: Rodolfo Medina Hechavarría/Radio Camagüey) (Photo: Adelante)
